Managing stress
Managing stress
One in four people will experience mental health problems at some time in their life.
Stress and worry can affect us in several ways, affecting how we feel, how we think and behave. Physical symptoms may include exhaustion, loss of/increased appetite, headaches, crying, sleeplessness, and oversleeping.
You should always ask for your advice from your GP if you are worried and feel you cannot cope alone.
There are a number of self-help services available in Camden which can be accessed directly or through your GP or other health professional.

Reading is Good for your Health
This scheme recommends self-help books aimed at helping people with common emotional problems. All of the books are available at the 6 participating libraries in Camden, and many can be found at other local libraries. Most of the publications are in English, but there is a small range of booklets in other languages.
Your GP or another health professional can also help you to choose a suitable book from the list by ‘prescribing’ a book that addresses a particular problem. You will be able to exchange this ‘prescription’ at one of the participating libraries in Camden through the “Books on Prescription” scheme.
